Rob Poulos’ book ‘Fat Burning Furnace’ is making some big waves in the diet/weight loss industry of late. While his techniques are not unheard of, few have applied these principles to weight loss before, and none with the quality and ease of use that Rob Poulos demonstrates.
The book is 158 pages long and is split in to three sections; the introduction, which explains the concepts behind the program, the workouts, and finally the nutrition section.

The core of the program is the use of exercises which were formally viewed as muscle building exercises, and applying these routines to accomplish the goal of weight loss. The theory is as follows: Rob explains that by increasing muscle tissue, the metabolic rate of an individual (i.e. the rate at which fat is burned off) increases, therefore causing a reduction in body fat. This view is confirmed by scientific research. Put simply, maintaining muscle tissue within the body requires energy, so excess fat is ‘burned off’ during this process.

The workouts themselves are fairly short in duration, only 20 minutes per workout, and are performed just two or three times per week. Further workouts are unnecessary as Rob explains that your body will continue to burn calories for around seventy two hours after the workouts have finished such is the intense nature of the workout sessions. Clearly ‘Fat Burning Furnace’ is well suited to those of us with busy lifestyles.

The final section covers the nutritional side of things. Rob takes the reader through many common perceptions and gives his own opinion on them. I found this especially useful considering the vast array of often contradictory information circulating currently.
He explains the basic of what to eat and when, what not to eat and why. This is not rocket science in it’s self but Rob explains everything in a clear, concise and easy to follow manner.
He provides sample meal plans and also a website where you can go to get lots of recipes you can use. There is also a printable planner which you can use to track your progress.

Overall, I would certainly be happy to recommend ‘Fat Burning Furnace.’ The program is based on sound scientific knowledge but differs from other publications in the way that knowledge is applied, in this case for the goal of weight loss. In this respect ‘Fat Burning Furnace’ is a one of a kind. The short time span of the workouts make this program applicable to anyone, even if you don’t have a huge amount of spare time, and the nature of the workouts are a refreshing change from the typical cardio vascular workouts found in most weight loss programs.
